Going into the new year, I declared Tuesday’s to be treat Tuesday’s. If I want dessert then I can have it on a Tuesday. It really makes me think about what I would want and choose wisely. I had dessert last Tuesday. A delicious chocolate and almond butter tart. Then I was thinking about it yesterday and there was nothing that I wanted. I always forget that when I cut down on sugar, it makes me not really want it anymore. The more I eat sugar, the more I want. So after only one treat Tuesday, I fell off the treat wagon. Not that there won’t be treats, but…they are just so much less appealing now. I love eggs. Love them. I had this little creation the other day and it was a total delight. Spinach, tomato, and feta. What have I been cooking up lately? Not much. I have been determined to be super healthy lately. This plan has put a halt to most of my baking which is really hard to do with the colder temps setting in. I love to bake when it gets cold out. However, we have been eating a lot of unremarkable meals. Tuna salad made with mustard not mayo, blackened tilapia, other lean protein and vegetables. I did have the opportunity to bake last week. It was Boss’s Day, so I took some Chai latte with vanilla bean cupcakes to work. It was a great excuse to use my new collapsible cake/cupcake carrier. It’s amazing and I love it. A great gift I got at my bridal shower. We had a cold snap this week that led me to not want to leave the couch, wear only fuzzy socks and drink hot
This was one jam-packed weekend full of pure goodness. After work on Friday, I headed straight to Maifest(my favorite summer fest) where Brian and I were able to meet up with several friends from different circles. It was one big fun time filled with German food and beer. I spent some time at the garden on Saturday. We are continuing to get strawberries and kale. Everything else is growing nicely with all the recent rain. This picture makes it look like my garden is full of weeds, but those are just onions growing in the spaces between the other plants. I really tried to maximize my space this year. I made a big pitcher of iced tea to sip on all of Saturday afternoon and evening. I would like to thank for the packaging mishap by Traditional Medicinals tea. In my box of Everyday Detox tea, which I drink everyday was a packet of Organic Roasted Dandelion Root tea. Maybe it is a marketing ploy to get you to try more flavors. Mistake or not, I tried it and love it. They got me hooked on another flavor of tea. Thank you.
