I am always looking for new at home, natural remedies instead of medicine. One of my favorites is drinking 1 tablespoon of Bragg’s Apple Cider Vinegar in a glass of water. I feel like it is very effective. I’ve also blogged about this detox tea as well.
This past summer, I went to camp reunion with some of my former fellow camp counselors. There, my friend “Q”(camp name) was telling me about some natural remedies that she used growing up. Years ago, she had taught me the wonders of tea tree oil, so I trusted any advice she gave. She encouraged me to take turmeric and honey together if I started feeling sick. Already knowing the benefits of turmeric(antibacterial, antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, and liver detoxifier) I knew I would be trying it.
Fast forward to this past weekend, when I was feeling like I might be coming down with something. I vaguely remembered what she told me. I dipped a spoon in some raw local honey, then sprinkled a fair amount of turmeric on it. Down the hatch.
That was really bitter. I then chugged a lot of water to try to get the turmeric taste out of my mouth. The next day I felt better.
I used the wonders of Facebook to contact Q to find out what I did wrong. Apparently, you should really mix 1 part turmeric to 2 parts honey together, then eat it on the spoon. Here is her Facebook picture response:
Much, much better! Brian even tried it and liked. No complaints at all.
I’ve been eating it every day this week to ward off any potential illness.
